Previs Animator

Nvizage is currently seeking freelance UK based Previs Animators to join our Previsualization team for film productions.

Previs animators work with the Previs supervisor and VFX supervisor  to design and create shots for action sequences. We are looking for talented animators, capable of working in a rapid environment with proven track records in the film production industry. Skills in layout, timing and great cinematography are essential, as well as excellent communication skills.

Job Description:

•  Senior Level
•  Must be happy to work at one of the major UK film studios. Work may be based in Soho (London) or at the UK studios - all based within the M25
•  Motions studies of keys assets, animation cycles, body mechanics, performance with a realistic style, keyframe posing - all finished to a high level
•  Scene layout with asset environments, position and timing of assets and camera layout
•  Referencing and importing assets in to Maya
•  Animating character rigs, camera rigs, and basic fx animation.

Skills:

•  Comprehensive knowledge of animation in Maya
•  Ability to clean up & accentuate mocap animation
•  Knowledge of animation layering
•  Excellent cinematic skills – colour, composition, framing, depth of field, motion blur and timings
•  Understanding of physical limits in real-world cinematography
•  Ability to visualise shots and understand screen direction
•  Experience of virtual camera systems
•  Knowledge of geometry caching
•  Basic particle animation skills useful
•  Understanding of basic lighting

Unreal Generalist

Nvizage is looking for an Unreal Generalist. The role will be hands-on with Unreal Engine 4, producing original content for high profile studio based films.

Responsibilities:

  • Take environment assets from Maya into the Unreal game engine.
  • Create shaders and lighting for the geometry imported.
  • Take animation assets into the Unreal game engine.
  • Create Unreal Engine FX including Environmental FX and particle FX.
  • Work with Level Designers and Technical Artists to make environments functional and efficient.
  • Work with the art team on skills progression and career development.

Essential Skills:

  • Substantial games industry experience, preferably including game Cinematics.
  • Excellent Unreal Engine skills.
  • Experience with composition and lighting.
  • Experience with Maya.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience producing concept art.
  • Experience with other sculpting packages, such as Mudbox.
  • Experience using Substance Painter and Designer.
  • Experience of using the Sequencer within UE4

Asset Builder

Asset builders work with Previs Supervisors and Art Directors to create all the necessary CG Assets for exciting and inspiring previs content, including but not limited to humans, vehicles, creatures, environments and props. Key skills involve understanding and interpreting art department plans, conceptual illustrations, sourcing visuals from the web and translating digital files from other software packages such as Solidworks and Google sketch-up. Models need to be built specifically for previs and virtual production requirements, and optimised for near real-time performance as possible. Basic knowledge of efficient lighting and shading techniques are all important skills.

 


Job Description:

•  Creating all required digital assets, suitable for real time performance, especially optimised bi-ped characters
•  Topoligising models for clean and efficient production
•  Exchanging geometry files between software packages using file formts such as DXF, Sketchup, obj, &c.
•  Decimation and optimisation of assets from high resolution models such as lidar, Z-brush
•  Creating the appropriate geometry LOD for the asset in context of it’s usage with low polygon modelling
•  Efficient creation of UV coordinates and UV spaces
•  Texture creation for assets at high resolution
•  Creating baked occlusion light techniques to enhance textures
•  Effcient use and propogation of textures at varying levels of pixel resolution for the asset in context
•  Creating model turntables, displaying good topology and shading
•  Creation of lighting rigs, appropriate for previs and virtual production usage


Requirements:

•  3+ years production experience.  Feature film experience is preferred. Must be happy to work at one of the major UK Film Studios.
•  Knowledge in the following software packages: Maya
•  A strong creative eye, for building hi-quality photorealistic assets
•  Team orientated and able to take direction from Supervisor
•  Adaptable and flexible and accepting of changes

 

Skills:

•  Comprehensive knowledge of Maya, and Maya's Viewport 2.0
•  Comprehensive knowledge of Z-brush
•  Expert knowledge of Photoshop skills essential
•  Knowledge in UV layout packages such as UV layout and Topogun
•  Knowledge of Agisoft Photoscan
•  Knowledge of Mudbox useful
•  Knowledge of Autodesk Motion Builder and tranlasting files between Maya and Motion Builder
